Persuasive Speech Conclusion - 1131 Words

As I sat in my seventh grade science class, I tiredly watched my classmates display their science fair projects. Presentations about which laundry detergent works best and the density of objects like eggs and oranges, nearly bored me to tears. After all of my classmates finished their presentations, my teacher Ms. Arriola told me to stay after class. Why does she want me to stay after class? Did she hate my project? Did I do something wrong? My mind raced with all the possibilities and probabilities behind her reasoning for wanting to speak to me. I gazed as all my peers left the classroom and slowly made my way up to the front of the room. â€Å"†¦, I found your experiment on the effects of permafrost on the germination rate of seeds,†¦show more content†¦The atmosphere was tense. In my head, I constantly repeated: Hello, my name is †¦ and today I will be discussing the effects of permafrost on the germination rate of seeds. I reiterated my opening remarks in my head as I shook like a coffee addict missing their morning mocha latte. I tried not to think about my nervous tendencies, and glanced around at my competition as a bead of sweat formulated on my forehead. The boy across from me had a presentation regarding the placebo effect, and the girl next to me had a rather unappealing project about the growth of plants using different fertilizers. In a perfectly clumsy manner, I knocked my board over twice as I tried to move it away from the edge. My board seemed to mimic my inner most thoughts. Why are we here? Can we go home yet? Why are there so many people here? I felt obligated to try my best, even if it meant sacrificing five hours of my day. I decided to read instead of hear about a kid’s project testing buoyancy in salt water, when I was suddenly interrupted by the first of three judges. To me, all of the judges looked exactly the same: old, unenthusiastic, and unimpressed. One by one like dominoes falling in a timely line, I would present to a judge, answer their questions, and shake their hand.
